Oxford University Summer Camp (July 14~27, 2024)
This summer, I had the extraordinary opportunity to participate in the Physics program at the Oxford University Summer Camp. The experience was nothing short of transformative. I had the privilege of meeting and bonding with fellow students from diverse backgrounds, including the UK, Taiwan, Germany, and France.
Beyond the classroom, I embraced the vibrant campus life. Engaging in various extracurricular activities, such as football and punting with my newfound friends, created lasting memories and strengthened our bonds. The camaraderie and support I found among my peers made the experience even more special.
During our punting excursions on the River Cherwell, I gained a profound understanding of teamwork. Coordinating our efforts to propel the punt in a specific direction required precise timing and a shared sense of purpose. If even one person pulled in the wrong direction, the punt would veer off course or, worse, capsize. This experience taught me the importance of working together towards a common goal and the consequences of individual actions on the collective outcome.
As the camp drew to a close, I felt a profound sense of nostalgia. The opportunity to live and learn in such a prestigious academic environment was truly invaluable. Not only did I gain a deeper understanding of physics, but I also developed essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication.
Moreover, the summer camp provided a unique preview of university life. Experiencing the rigors of an academic program, the independence of living away from home, and the joy of forming new friendships has undoubtedly shaped my aspirations for higher education. The memories I made at Oxford will continue to inspire me as I embark on my academic journey.
